Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after March of that year.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had led commentators to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 early chances in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
