A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of people injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
